Canadian Comic Book Alliance

A voice for Canadian comics.

The CCBA speaks for the publishers, illustrators, artists and writers making comics and graphic novels in Canada — and is building the Canadian routes to print and distribution they have been left without.

Why the CCBA restructured

In 2024 the CCBA made the decision to restructure, with the goal of advancing more sources of education, creation, promotion, production and distribution of comics and graphic novels within Canada. With that goal in mind, we have begun partnering with Canadian businesses and institutions in various ways, to offer more robust services to the CCBA and its members.

With the recent bankruptcy of the last remaining major comics distributor, publishers have begun looking for alternatives to get comics into the hands of readers. There are still book distributors who sometimes deal in comics, but they are focused mainly on the large established publishers — leaving new, smaller, or international (non-US) publishers in a bind.

Here in Canada, these hurdles, along with the rising cost of international shipping, have spurred publishers on to find creative ways to extend their work’s reach outside of the former distribution channels. But most Canadian creators and publishers are left with zero options for local distribution outside of web-based sales.

But there is good news.

In 2025 Studiocomix Press, in collaboration with SCPress, launched a Canadian option — the Great North Creators Catalog — to distribute Canadian content to Canadian comic book stores. Beginning this month, two new offers open to CCBA members.

CCBA members’ discount plan

Every registered CCBA member is eligible for special pricing on saddle-stitched comic book printing. Total page count must be divisible by four, and a minimum of 100 copies is required for the discount. Reduced pricing is also available on add-ons such as sketch covers and spot-foiling.
